Dahshanae Graces Us With Emotional Masterpiece Desensitized!

This song has it all, emotional vocals, a groove that makes you bop, soulful vibes and an Incredibly powerful music video. The American musician stuns us again. This is not one to be missed!

We have been desensitized by the amount of music coming out these days. We see alot more quantity over quality, but Dahshanae is pure quality. This song is very unique and gives us soulful vibes, with powerful bass notes and dreamy synths. Uplifting and emotional vocals, with a touch of true honesty to finish it off. This is a real fusion of genres and sounds.

The vocal performance speaks for itself, the track shows true production quality and you can feel the truth in her voice.

The American hit maker was born October 1st, 1998 in Chicago Illinois, with Inspirations ranging from Neo Soul, Jazz and artists ranging from Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Amy Winehouse just to name a few. We can certainly hear it in her music.

She is also the founder of UNsrry Records and the host on the "UNsrry101" radio show, which is a testament to her work in the Industry, the only way is up for this rising star.

Its really worth checking out the music video for this song. I was a bit surprised, blown a way would probably be a better way to say it! And you will be too.

Dahshanae starts by the sink in the bathroom and quickly you see the blood spew from her mouth. Now I for one am into it, we see alot of the same videos these days and this is powerful and unique.

I was mesmerised by this song and music video so I wanted to get to know Dahshaenae a bit better and answer some of the questions I have brewing in my mind.

We were lucky enough to sit down with Dahshanae and find out a bit more about her and her journey!

1. Can you tell us the inspiration behind the track? Its very emotional and powerful, tell us the story!

I went through a really rough emotional roller coaster back in 2020 where I can honestly say I lost myself trying to hold on to someone I was co dependent on for my basic forms of happiness. In the hopes of getting out of that vibration, I kinda had to keep my mind busy and put up this guard where I’m emotionally unavailable. This was a person who I was incredibly vulnerable with and more than anything wanted as solid friend because growing up I was very shy and often bullied just because I stood out while being so to myself so naturally I did fall in love with how kind and attentive they were to me when they were. I wanted to be blunt in my creative process of what I was feeling at the time but also show how my perspective has changed on how I look at that whole situation and how I was trying to make peace with it.

2. Who are some of your biggest Inspirations?

Sonically I’m obsessed with rawness of singers such as Amy Winehouse, Willow, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. I personally love harmonies but there’s something so special about just hearing the tone and the words of one solo vocal track that just makes everyone so much more personal and assertive so I’m definitely taking notes on that concept.

3. If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be?

I would love to collaborate with Jessie Reyez, SZA, Isaiah Rashad, 6lack, Sabrina Claudio and Willow.

4. Whats next for you? Do you have any more releases lined up

So muchhhh! I’m an artist at heart so I’m always creating something new and exciting that I’m ready to release the second it’s done but I will say before I release new music this year I plan on releasing a few more visuals from my project, “Clean, Vol 1”. Visuals have always been my second love when it comes to how I express my creativity so I’m beyond excited to push my limits and create something even crazier.

5. We love the music video, can you tell us more about it?

Thank you! I actually shot the entire thing on my iPhone 13 Pro. All of my videos were self made by either solely myself or with the help of my brother who is also an artist, Tazzie H. It’s such a interesting process, even the special effects makeup were done by me maybe an hour before I shot it. I had the idea for the longest time then I finally said I was going to do it so I purchased all the props with the help of my boyfriend lol and I just practiced for a week of just making scars to perfect the realism of it. It’s funny because I sent it to a few close friends/ family and they were all over the place emotionally because everyone thought it was real so I guess I did my job haha.
